aahh now i can breathe!
if you're reading this upon a job offer by the American University of the Middle East and seeking expertise opinion then my two scents would be.. don't take it, IT'S A TRAP!!!!
..
My story started when i saw their advertisement online and decided to apply, to my surprise they called to schedule and appointment with me the next day, and i immediately looked online for any topics related to AUM employees and i came across
two pages (One & Two )whom i should have took VERY VERY seriously, but we live to learn, therefore i feel like i owe this comment to everyone whos passing through the same situation.. my over all impression was that the environment is very friendly and clean the building is HUGE and very neat, but the administration is still trembling, everything is decided upon the last minute and employees turnover is very rapid which tells you something is WRONG..

their working hours for all (Administration + Faculty) are from 8 to 5, a faculty there wouldn't feel the privilege of being a faculty member since he/she will be treated as if they're working in a factory!

** the first awkward moment was when they refused my request to take the contract home to read it! (turns out there are many tricks within the contract regarding working hours which might exceed the 9 hours specified in one of the contract articles) and the next one..
..

** is when two departments whithin the same institution had some misunderstanding (which btw happens a lot in every organization around the world) we we're surprised that Mr.Fahad AlOthman (Alkandery) who happens to be the CEO, keeps meeting and dealing with the employees and departments personally instead of leaving it to the people in charge needless to say this is very unprofessional from a person you'd think is mature and experienced enough to know that, also i must not forget that he got attitude issues in dealing with his staff (seriously whats with raising your voice and using vulgar idioms) Yikes!

the contract is lousy not because it's a slavery contract (not at all) but salary wise and the institute is slightly new and still developing i think it needs sometime to reach a recognized professional level . if you don't mind all of that, then GO for it.. or better not! =)
